What to Expect When Scheduling Your ServSafe® Exam
The ServSafe® Exam is available in multiple formats: paper-based exam with an in-person proctor, online exam with an in-person proctor, online at a testing center, or online with a remote live proctor. Each option has a different scheduling and exam delivery process. This guide will help you understand the differences, so that you can select the one that’s best for you.
Where can I take the ServSafe® Exam?
The ServSafe® exam is administered in different formats.
- Paper-based exam administered in person
- Online exam administered in person
- Online exam administered at a testing center
- Online exam administered by an Online Proctor via ProctorU
How can I schedule the ServSafe® Exam?
The first step is to decide on the ideal format for you. Do you prefer to attend a proctoring session in person or take it online with a remote proctor?
What is the difference between the online and in-person ServSafe® Exam?
Other than cost and delivery format, there is no difference between both options. They have the same level of difficulty, same passing score, and same number of questions.
The online format allows you to get your certificate the same day. With the paper-based version of the exam you will receive your results and ServSafe® certificate within 3-4 weeks.
Can I request accommodations when taking the ServSafe® Exam if I have a disability?
Yes. Special accommodations are available to examinees when taking the ServSafe® exam as long as a request for accommodation is submitted in advance for approval.
Can I take the ServSafe® Exam in other languages?
Yes, you can take the paper-based ServSafe® Certification Exam in English, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, or French Canadian.
The online version of the exam is available in English, Spanish, and Chinese. However, keep in mind that remote proctors with ProctorU are only able to provide instructions in English.
