It’s also nice and convenient to have cash on hand, and all factors considered you’re probably getting paid more per hour than a lot of regular hourly jobs!

Servers have to deal with all manner of the human race, from stressed moms with crying babies to rowdy, drunk college boys to sweet little old ladies – you see it all! Unfortunately once in a while a customer comes along who’s mean and difficult – what do you do?
Someone recently posed this question to the Bitchy Waiter and I absolutely love his answer – kill him with kindness. While management can technically refuse service to anyone (and you should find out if that’s an option), usually you’ll have to just deal with the situation best you can, and by best, I mean over the top best.
It puts you in control of the situation rather than letting his attitude control yours. Make it into a fun game and invite your coworkers to watch (secretly from a distance). Who knows, maybe his life took a bad turn and a little kindness could bandage his wounds. At the very least you won’t be letting him ruin your day.
