Servers are very patient people

Working in food service can be a lot of fun, but it’s also very stressful. You have to take care of rude customers, work long hours on your feet, and keep a smile on your face through it all. This fun article at Shiftgig lists eight examples of the stuff you deal with on a daily basis, even though you wish you could just say “no.”

For example, how many times have you had customers come in a few minutes before closing and expect full service? Then there are the neglectful parents who let their kids run all over the restaurant as if they expect you to watch them.

Sometimes customers do things that don’t make any sense at all, such as making sure you know they have a gluten allergy and then ordering a pasta dish. You don’t want to embarrass them, but you have to set them straight with politeness and poise, and you do because you’re an awesome server!
