Reflecting on why restaurant sales, despite a brief “spike” in overall revenue, are on a downslide, heading towards the worse. Especially so for fast food chains and not so much fine dining. A few reasons are; households are being cautious of spending habits and the cost of wages paid for qualified employees to work. The economy may still be improving but it is obvious that households are still trying to be cautious in the ways they spend, as they would rather save.
- Traffic plummeted 4.7 percent in the month—1.7 percentage points worse than June.
- July cooked any optimism the restaurant industry might have felt from a promising June.
- Calculated on a two-year basis, July’s sales were down 4.2 percent versus July 2015, and same-store traffic declined an eye-opening 8.7 percent.
“Same-store sales dropped 2.8 percent across the landscape, a significant 1.8 percentage point decline from the previous month, when traffic and sales reached their best marks since 2016.”

Noam Wolf has created a brand new app called MarketMan. The MarketMan app is designed to help small restaurants manage inventory and order food when needed. This new app has helped small restaurants save time, money, and has cut down on food waste. The app has streamlined processes for smaller restaurants and has brought them up to date much like their larger counterparts. Finally, the MarketMan app has teamed up with a non-profit organization that is working to combat hunger in the community. All around, the new MarketMan app brings great solutions to several problems; it is a win-win for everyone involved
- The ever-present issue of food waste is often solved by big name companies with a customized inventory solution, but such is often not viable for smaller venues.
- It’s been a dirty secret that front-of-the house operations and customer relations issues get the technological muscle and advancements, while back-of-the house issues tend to stagnate, unresolved.
- Mobile app pioneer, Noam wolf, knew there had to be a better way than manually composing orders, frequently resulting in over-ordering and wasted monies.
“By seamlessly connecting the silos between operator and vendor through streamlined software, MarketMan allows restaurant operators to reduce both food costs and inventory management time, all through an easy-to-use cloud-based platform.”

It is highly recommended that all supermarkets and stores that sell eggs across the European continent recall their eggs. Apparently the insecticide Fipronil was possibly mixed with a cleaning fluid that is commonly used in the chicken coops, and therefore could present a health risk to any and all European residents who consume eggs. It is also said that it can be very unlikely that any health risk is part of this. It should be known that this accident happened but don’t fear for your life.
- Millions of eggs were removed from European shelves, due to an incident of insecticide contamination.
- Fipronil, the insecticide, is believed to have been inadvertently mixed with a cleaning product regularly used to keep chicken coops clean.
- While the Food Standards Agency does not expect the eggs to constitute a health risk, food items made with the eggs, like egg salad sandwiches, could.
“Some of the contaminated egg products will have had a short shelf life and will have already been consumed”
