How to Minimize Food Waste in Your Restaurant

Food waste is an inevitable part of the food service industry, though the way we manage it needs to change. Not only is excess food waste harming your profits, it’s also harming the environment. Sustainability is at the front of consumer minds these days.

Several solutions to minimize food waste are mentioned in this article from Fast Casual. Some restaurants such as Salata are cutting produce fresh as needed and have specific standards and procedures to make sure as much of the food is used as possible, including an extensive training course.

Salata also receives two fresh food deliveries a week to better control waste, and are offering smaller portion sizes since they found their regular sizes were a little too large for some customers.

These are great ideas that prevent excess food waste from going in the trash while also promoting higher profits.
