Serving is generally not a difficult line of work to get into, but doing it well takes skill. When you’re just starting out you might be a little intimidated, but getting out of your comfort zone is good for you! These tips can help you survive your first day on the job.

First, prepare as much as you possibly can. Take notes if you need to and stay organized because you’re going to be receiving a lot of information really fast. You won’t learn it all the first day, but you’ll be expected to pick up on it quickly.

Stay close to your training server and pay close attention to everything they do. Follow them everywhere and ask plenty of questions. Keep an open mind too, especially if you’ve worked in other restaurants. Every place does things a little differently so be ready to do things the way they want them done!
