You’re a Server, Not a [Insert Other Job Here]

You work hard at your job as a server, but customers only see a small fraction of what you do each day. Maybe that’s why they’re more than happy to request things of you that disrupt your routine and drive you crazy. Here are some things customers think you are, but you are definitely not!

You are not your customer’s baby sitter. Chasing children is not on your resume. You’re also not your customer’s personal photographer, but they don’t seem to understand that five photo re-dos is far too many.

You’re also not the manager, so you can’t give them free stuff. How important do they think they are? And just because you’re a server does not mean you are a servant – there’s no excuse for rude people trying to get your attention with snaps, whistles, or any other impolite gestures.
