It is interesting to see how aspects of society are interconnected and affect one another. How we dress, what we say, what we watch to entertain ourselves, and what we eat are decisions that aren’t made in a vacuum. For example, during the Great Depression, few people ate meat as the price of animal protein spiked and was out of the budget of the average family. Later, after WW2 when there was a tangible rise in the nuclear family and babies born, we valued Americana-traditions that served “square” meals featuring meats, vegetables, and starch. Now that we are in the twenty-second century, many people are abandoning the traditional meat-and-potatoes diets and are embracing other ways to get proteins and nutrition. Now that we are rising in our globally conscious mindset, many people are abandoning the idea of eating animals and animal products and we have seen a subsequent of veganism.
