How to Keep Serving Interesting

Serving takes a lot of skill and there’s always something to do, but it also gets repetitive. You might find yourself saying the same thing or asking the same questions to every customer. If you get bored with your routine, your customers will notice. Why not spice things up a bit?

A server with this dilemma sought advice from the Bitchy Waiter in this article from Shiftgig, and he had some great ideas. If you’re stuck in a rut repeating yourself, try taking on a different personality for the day. He suggests a different persona for each table you wait, but I think that could get confusing.

If you think you can pull it off, attempt a British accent. You could also pronounce your name a little differently at each table, or let your customers know they can call you by a silly made-up nickname (Banana is always funny, especially if your name is Anna).

Not only will you have more fun, but your customers will pick up on it and that could land you a bigger tip!
